Lower Montgomery Pass Yurt

The Montgomery Pass yurts are situated midway up the West side of Montgomery Pass. Upper Montgomery boasts a 16-foot yurt that comfortably accommodates up to six guests. This location is unparalleled, offering stunning views of Diamond Peak, Nokhu Crags, Mt. Richthofen, and Seven Utes. Unique to Montgomery, these yurts are the only ones with two sites within walking distance of each other, making them ideal for larger groups. They are close enough for two parties yet private enough for just one. In summer, they are accessible by 4WD, while in winter, reaching them involves a picturesque 3-mile uphill trek for those who like to earn their turns.

$175 - $200 / Night

Included in Rental

Lower Montgomery is fully equipped with (2) twin over full bunkbeds, (1) twin over twin bunk, and (1) trundle bed. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, percolator, one pot electric burner and a wood stove. There is also a fold out table and chairs. The solar system provides outlets to charge devices and gear. Outside you will find the vault toilet room, stocked wood, and outdoor grill that can be used with the supply of your own charcoal.

What to Bring

You will want to bring bedding/sleeping bag, pillows, food, water, wash cloths, and garbage bags. We are a pack-in, pack-out experience with a long standing tradition of leaving the cabin better than you found it, inside and out. Please triple check you gathered all of your clothing, gear, and food (including spices, condiments, coffee) before you leave. There is a Yonder Yurt dumpster located at our office near the park entrance where you can dispose of your trash. Any littering around the yurt and in the State Forest SP will result in a fine.

What's NOT included

There are no showers or running water at this location. Guests should plan to bring their own potable water for drinking and cooking. Alternatively guests can collect water from the fill up stations located near North Michigan Reservoir. During winter months, water can be supplied by snowmelt and filtered. Guests will need to bring their own filtration systems. There is no wifi and very limited cell service at this location. This offers a great opportunity to unplug and enjoy the outdoors but we highly recommend bringing a Satellite phone, two-way radio, or Personal Locator Beacon in case of emergency.
